Happy New Year

A really good friend of mine asked me if I had been thinking about my New Years Resolution. I said no, because they always seem to be the same (save money, lose weight, work out more..blah blah blah).

But since she asked me - I have been thinking about it more and more. I am thinking that in 2009 I am going to be a better friend. I have a lot of people that I know and love. People who are good friends to me, but I am not sure if I am a good friend to them.

Having friends at my age seems like a lot of work compared to when we were kids. I am not sure why that is. I do know that you can never have enough good people in your life and I am glad to have all of you good people.

I hope you have a safe New Years eve and I hope that 2009 brings you closer to what ever Resolutions you have made for yourself.

Love you All

Danielle

More Christmas Cards..

As promised here are more of the Cards that I have received.

Made by Katie..

Made by Cara..

Made by Nadine..

Hope you get everything from your list this year!!

Christmas Cards

Here are some of the Hand Made Christmas Cards my friends sent to me this year. I can only post so many pictures are one time so I will post more later...

Made by Faith..

Made by Liz..

Made by Chris..

They are all hanging on my fridge - which accounts for the funny angles..LOL I will tell you this. These pictures do not do them justice. There is something about a handmade card in person that is lost by camera. I will post more later.

Yikes - Away so Long!

I am so sorry I have been away for so long. December really crept up on me. As you know I have a new job - which has been great. I am learning so many new things and I work with a great group of people.

My Cat has been driving my husband and I crazy!!! He is into this biting thing and bites anything and everything. For this reason we decided NOT to put up the Christmas Tree this year :O( While I am sad, I would be more sad if kitty got the jolt of his life chewing on the lights. I have the week between Christmas and New Years off and will hopefully be using that time to get things settled in my head so I can concentrate on the New Year.

I hope you are having a great Holiday Season and that you have the opportunity to spend time with your friends and family.

Thank you to everyone who sent me Christmas Cards. I will be posting them on my blog this week!

Anyway, I know we are all busy getting ready for the Holiday - but I wanted to let you know about a new promotion Stampin Up has going on - which will get you ready for the next RED holiday (VALENTINES).

The Love you Much Bundle includes the Love You Much Stamp Set, Heart To Heart punch, and Candy Lane Designer Series paper. The Retail vaule for this is $51.85. However from December 23rd until January 31st you can purchase this bundle as Item Number 115405 and receive 20% off for a total of $41.85

A Stampers Christmas Poem

A friend of mine sent this to me in an email. It was so cute I had to share. I hope it brings a smile to your face. :O)

Twas the night before Christmas, I'm glued to the tree.
I'm wondering what Santa brought just for me.
Could it be cardstock or chipboard or lace?
Or a Big Shot, I said, with a smile on my face.
And that's when I heard him,
"Hi Santa, " I said
"You know....good little girls
Should be in their beds."
"I know I should Santa,
And now I've got caught.
But I was just so excited
To see what you brought."
"Well, let's take a look
In this room where you work. "
He shook his head quickly,
And left with a jerk.
I heard him exclaim
As he put it in gear.
"You've got enough crap,
I'll see you next year!"

And yet - more cards...

Here is another idea for your Christmas cards.

This one was made by Lucy. Lucy used the Mr. Twigster and the Best Yet (hostess) stamp sets for this card. Here is the recipe:

Cardstock: Riding Hood Read, Kiwi Kiss, Chocolate Hip, Whisper White
Designer Paper: Holiday Treasures
Ink: Chocolate Chip, Riding Hood Read, Kiwi Kiss
Embellishments: Chocolate Chip 1/4" Grosgrain Ribbon
Accessories: Scallop Border Punch, Blender Pen

After squeezing a closed ink pad you transfer some of the ink to the cover of the container. You can then dip your blender pen into this ink and use it to color your stamped image. This is helpful when using our In Colors since we do not have matching markers. It is also helpful if you haven't yet purchased the matching marker, but you have the ink.

Don't have Mr Twigster or Best Yet - remember look beyond the Stamp set. This is a great card layout that can be used with almost any stamp set.

Hope you like this one as much as I do...

Cards...

Hi All,

Here is a really cute card made by Kim. She used the A Cardinal Christmas stamp set. Available through the Holiday Mini.

The recipe is as follows:

Paper: Watercolor Paper, Old Olive, Kraft, Riding Hood Red
Ink: Old Olive, Black Stazon, Chocolate Chip
Accessories: Large and Medium Oval Punches, Distressing Tool, Riding Hood Red Taffeta Ribbon, Watercolor Wonder Crayons, Blending Pens

The Cardinal is stamped on the Water Color Paper with the Black Stazon and then colored in with the Watercolor Wonder Crayons and Blending Pens. Coloring stamped images is just one way to add and extra punch of color to your cards.

Thank you Kim for sharing your design with us.

Gift Card Holder...

Hi Gang,

Today I want to show you this great Gift Card Holder design. Think of it like a mini card that holds a gift card for your very special person this Holiday Season or all year round.

You need:

*Card Stock (the holder is cut 4 1/4" x 11" (so you can make 2 with 1 sheet of card stock)
*Word Window Punch
*Circle Punch
*Stamps
*Ink
*Ribbon
* Optional - Designer Paper

How To...

*Cut your 8 1/2" x 11" Card Stock in 1/2" making two sheets that are 4 1/2" x 11"
*Score your card stock at 3" at 5 1/2" and at 8"
*Fold your card stock at the 5 1/2" mark (so in 1/2")
*Fold in the opposite direction at the other two score marks ( 3" and 8")
*With your card stock foled in half at the 5 1/2" mark - make two punches with your Word Window punch - line your punch up so that you will be punching out only 1/2 of the Word Window - line up the edge of the card stock with the edge of the actual punch - do this twice on each side (you are making the slot that your Gift Card will go into).
*Using your 3/4" - 1" Circle punch - punch a 1/2 circle (you are making the finger holes for the Gift Card slot)

*Notice the black mark around the three sides of the inside section of the Card stock? - put adhesive there and fold the Card Stock - creating the pocket for your Gift Card.
*Decorate the Gift Card Holder as you see fit!

Enjoy!!!

Ornaments

Check out this cute ornament made by Maria, one of the demonstrators in my group. I took this picture at our Quarterly Taste of Stamping meeting. A really fun day of stamping, eating, sharing business ideas and project ideas.

This ornament is something you can purchase at any craft store. She then took small strips of Designer Series paper curled them and put them inside the ornament through the top. She then took some of our Kiwi Kiss Satin ribbon and finished it off with a tag.

Maria could have added to the ornament with our Rub-Ons. This is such a cute and inexpensive way to tell someone how much they mean to you during the Holidays!!

In Love with Ribbon

I am IN LOVE with this ribbon. It is from the Holiday Mini and has been the inspiration for the Vincent's 2008 Holiday card. It is super simple, with some Ridinghood Red designer paper, the new stripped ribbon and the Hostess set Punches Three. The colors are Ridinghood Red and Vanilla!!! Love Love Love!!!

Colors of Christmas?

What are the colors of Christmas? Are they only green and red?

I love to use non-traditional colors in my Christmas cards. I made this card for a class this past week. The colors are Pretty in Pink, Regal Rose, Pink Pirouette and Whisper White. I used the Snow Swirled stamp set (Item 111690) along with some White Ribbon (secretly I wish I had the taffeta instead, but it still looks pretty). You may notice some hints of texture on the background of the Pretty in Pink card, these are snowflakes from the same set done in Versa Mark (giving it that watermark, tone on tone look). On the tree itself, I used the two-way glue pen to pick some swirls and adhere some Dazzling Diamonds.

I know it feels early to think about Christmas, but I find the Holiday's sneak up on me too quickly and I want to be prepared. Are you thinking about making your Christmas cards? What is the look you are going for? What colors do you love together?

If you are thinking about making your cards this year, but don't know where to start. Contact me to schedule some time and I will sit down with you to help you figure it out.

Decor Elements

How fun is this? This van has been decorated with Stampin Up! Decor Elements. So here are some tips. You don't want to put them on the outside and you don't want to put them on the windows that go up and down. Hmmm... I am thinking about the Honda Element. If I decide to put them on my car, I will take pictures!!!

Results Have Been Posted!

I came in 3157th with a time of 36:44. This is my best time yet - no wonder I was so tired after!!! This might be the event that gets me scrapbooking.

I am not much of a scrapbooker - always feel like it is a huge task to create a whole book. My solution for this is that I will be making two pages for each event/trip. Just dab of what I did vs documenting the whole thing. Now to look through and find just the right Designer Paper!! Woo Hoo!! I am so excited!!!!

I did it!

Hi Friends,

I just wanted to say Thank You to all who believed in me. I finished my first 5K today!!! Wooo Hooo!!!

I ran in the CVS Caremark Downtown 5K The weather was great and the sun was HOT...but I finished. I am in that group of approx 6000 runners!!! I don't know yet where I placed, but I know I wasn't last and that was my goal. It took me approx 38 min (again - don't have my time yet). This has been pretty average for me during my training. Here I am after I crossed the finish line..

This is a great accomplishment for me. Some people said that once you finish your first race you will get the racing bug. I can honestly say that didn't happen. Next year I will run Shawn's race and I will probably run this one too, but I don't think I will be looking for any new ones.

Hopefully the results will be posted tomorrow and I will find out where I placed. Stamp with you soon!!!

Look Beyond The Stamp Set

How do you like this simple card of a wreath? Look closer...is that really a wreath? Well it isn't, I made this wreath with one of the two step flowers in the HeartFelt Thanks set. A two step stamp, creates an image in two steps. You layer the images to create depth and color. Notice the full image and the outlined image on the sets displayed near the card. Here I stamped both the images with the same color in a circle - I wanted a more cohesive look with some texture to create the wreath. I then used what is normally the center to create the look of berries. To get the most out of your stamp sets, look beyond the intent of the stamp set you will be surprised at the number of different things you can do.

OH - Before I forget - Congratulations to..

I am a wimp

So I was supposed to run in the 5K today, but the rain is just to much. I have wimped out and am really sad about it. I will post more later, but wanted you all to know that I appreciate your well wishes.

5K

So I have decided to run in a 5K. It is the Shawn Nassaney Memorial race at Bryant Colleg: http://www.shawnmnassaney.org/ Shawn worked at APC with me and was a victim of the 9/11 attacks. I am so excited to be a part of this event. My goal is to just not be last. I participated the very first year and couldn't even finish. Of course that was over 100lbs ago so I have higher expectations this year. My hubby will be there cheering me on and taking pictures. If I find any that are not to crazy looking, I will post one. Hopefully of me crossing the finish line!!! So this Sunday around 1:00 PM I need you all to send me swifty thoughts.

I will let you know how I make out.

Couldn't resist..

Okay, so I don't normally get into holiday cards except for that one in the middle of winter (afraid to say it because I am still holding onto summer..).

But, we made this card in this months Adventure Stampers meeting and I thought it was so cute I had to share. It really was so simple to make.

The card itself is made from one of our new In Colors Kiwi kiss. We used two circle punches for the Whisper White and Basic Black eyes and the Kiwi Kiss nose and eye lids cut in half. You may noticed we also sponged some Kiwi Kiss on them too to give a little definition. Using a white gel pen we made a little highlighted the Black on the eyes. We then used the Basic Black Marker to draw the mouth and the small scar on the side. Topped it off with some Lavender Lace for his hair and a little Smarty Pants (Item # 110980) saying stamped on his head.

Put it all together and you have a cute whimsical Halloween card that you can send to kids, family or your best friend. Hope you enjoyed this one...

Moonlighting..

Here is my latest creation. The technique I used is called Moonlighting. You basically punch a circle out of a Post IT Note - stick it to the card stock to mask the area and then sponge your color around it, making a moon. I wrote about this technique on my Monthly Tip/Technique section of the My Story page - click here to view.

On this card I used the Inspired by Nature stamp set with Basic Black, So Saffron, Tangerine Tango and Ridinghood Red Ink. One tip I would give is to visually decide where your moonlight will go in comparison to your stamped image, but wait to stamp your image until you have sponged. I found that even though I let my black stamped image sit for approx 10 min before I started sponging that it still smudged into the sponged ink. I would have liked to have made the color more vivid, but when this started happening I decided to let the color stay. This is a really cool technique and I will definitely use it again.

Think outside the box..

Sometimes we get a stamp set and get stuck using it within the context of the set itself. It pays to think outside the box. This card is made with the Pick A Petal set. The set comes with a bunch of different petal designs along with some different center designs and is really cute. In this card, I used the Petals to make the wings for my lady bug. I cut them out and then used a circle punch to make the body and the head. The ends of the antenna are eyelets and I connected them to the body with the Black Stampin' Write marker.

So think outside the box - sometimes with just some cutting or with a punch you can take a piece of a stamped image and make something totally different, but great with it.

More Sock Monkey

Okay so I broke out the sock monkey again this weekend.

This time I did a surprise pop up technique inside the card. Basically you punch out a circuit and then cut a "spring" out of the circle. Attach one end (for example the outside end of spring) to the bottom and then other end (for example the inside end of the sprint) to the top. This is easily done by placing adhesive on the ends and then closing the card. Open the card and you now have a Spring!

This is the first time I have tried this technique and I would have used a larger circle and made more twists to the spring, but not to bad for my first time!

Thanks a Bunch for reading!!

Inspiration

We all get inspiration for cards from different places. I have been inspired by book covers, bedspreads and coffee mugs. But sometimes it is not as abstract as that. Today I was inspired by a card I saw online.

I didn't have the stamp set (Always), but I loved the layout and the color combination. So I looked through my stamp sets and decided to take to make this...

Here I used Live Like You Mean it, one of our new Level 1 Hostess sets. I kept the color combination. They are two of our In Colors, Baja Breeze and Pacific Point.

So be inspired by everything you see around you. Even if it means CASEing a card...(thanks Serenity Stamper for creating the Always Bird and inspiring me).

Meet my KitKat

Hi Readers, I wanted to introduce you to my KitKat. He is the baby of the family and is so lovable. As I type this he is taking a cat nap on his favorite place in the house. This would be my lap. He is afraid of strangers so very few visitors have ever seen him in person. Although some times I sneak a visitor in to see him in his hiding spot, but he doesn't like it.

You never forget your first...

This is the card that started my craze. I was at a workshop and was astounded by the wonders of rubber, ink and card stock. As always, you can not forget to stamp your envelope.

So now to find out whose paying attention. This is a retired set. The first person to email me at stampingdanielle@yahoo.com and tell me what the name of this stamp set is will win $5.00 off their next class registration fee.

Thank You!

Hi All, Just wanted to say Thank You to everyone who sent well wishes today. My mom did great and is currently eating a "nice" hospital meal. Things are a bit hectic so I don't have a lot of time to write. Check in tomorrow :O)

Say a prayer..

Hi All, if you could say a prayer for my mom tomorrow. She is having knee replacement surgery. Things should go fine, but it is nice to have a couple extra voices out there. I will post tomorrow to let you know how she makes out.

Finally Opened the Boxes!!

YEAH!! Last night I finally opened the boxes. It was like Christmas, because other than the Big Shot I had totally forgotten what I had bought!

Anyway, here is a picture of the project I am working on. This is the beginning of a recipe book for my up coming Recipe for Fun class. We will be finishing it with jumbo eyelets and either rings or ribbon. I haven't decided yet.

If you haven't signed up for this class you must! Here are the details
If I have the chance I will play more tonight. But I have a busy day planned with my mom so I am not sure if I will have the energy!

My friend Dine...

Okay so I haven't opened the boxes yet. I really wanted to, but some things are more important than stamping. Yes I said it!!! One of those is friendship. My friend Nadine is home from Virgina and is leaving on Sunday. Last night was the only time I was going to have to see her, so I jumped at it. We went for coffee and desert and had a great talk. We always have a great talk. That is what best friends are all about. It might take you a few to get back into the swing, but once you do, it is like you just saw one another yesterday. I showed her some of the projects I have made and we actually took a video one of them. If I figure out how to post it, I will. Anyway, I will get these boxes open this weekend. Hopefully tonight!!!

Tonight I will be unpacking and playing with all of my new toys! Check back tomorrow as I am sure there will be some pictures!!!

Is it 5:00 PM yet??? Darn only 1:30 PM :O(

20 Years

Where were you 20 years ago? Were you listening to "Push It" by Salt-n-pepe? Or were you watching Winona Ryder battle it out with Beetlejuice? I was just about to start my Senior year at Lincoln HS (okay - no one do the math..please..hee hee!!)

Well 20 years ago two sisters decided to Love what they do and Share what they love... and they started a company called Stampin Up...

The rest as they say is History! Now Stampin Up has moved beyond just rubber stamping and has begun to branch out more and more.. They now offer the Decor Elements which is very exciting. I can't wait to find out what they do next and I am so happy to be a part of it. Where were you 20 years ago? You may not remember exactly, but just think how far we have all come!!
